LAW and order will be Western Highlands governor Wai Rapa’s priority in his term in office.
Rapa said he aimed to boost policing in the province to ensure businesses operated in a safe and conducive environment and the public were free to move around and conduct their affairs without fear or apprehension.
He said law and order issues had at times held Mt Hagen to ransom and he wanted to address it and build a positive image of the Western Highlands capital which he described as the “heart beat” of the Highlands.
“We will work with police to clean up the city and the province of crime and lawlessness which was allowed to get worse over the years,” he said.
