Real estate company strict on movement of residents during lockdown

WORKERS residing in Edai Town outside Port Moresby are being issued vehicle passes to come to work in the National Capital District.
Edai Town Development Ltd director Kym Yong told The National that Covid-19 preventative measures were in place for the 300 families that reside at the town. “During this period, travel passes are required for approved movement of vehicles, Edai Town management has issued letters as requested by our residents confirming their Edai Town residential status,” she said.
“The residents are responsible to justify their reason to travel when they individually submit their application for vehicle passes.
“Our residents have been issued vehicle passes where applicable and Port Moresby employers have also been picking up their staff from Edai Town to work in the city providing essential services.”
Kym said the management was urging the residents to apply preventive measures.
“The National Government has taken prudent steps to protect the wider communities and everyone should strictly adhere to the conditions imposed to keep our communities safe,” she said. “We do disseminate awareness message to our residents and we require our residents to register their occupants including relatives, friends who are staying in Edai Town during the lockdown period.
“Non-registered occupants are not allowed access past the guardhouse during the lockdown period.”
