EDUCATION secretary Dr Uke Kombra says all children who enrol at elementary and pre-schools from next year will be given an admission number and teachers issued a biometric identification card as part of plans to reform the education system.
It is part of Education Ministry’s Vision 2075 to “transform teaching and learning to achieve better quality education through effective service delivery”.
Speaking during the 10th Education Ministry’s dedication service and launch of the vision logo on Friday, Kombra said after development of the vision is complete in June, they would start to implement some of its plans.
“When a student enrols into prep, he or she will be given an admission number and will use the same digit from elementary all the way to Grade 12,” he said.
“All teachers will also be given a biometric identification card that stores all their bio-data and will be accessed with a QR code using a fingerprint.
“The same card will monitor their attendance to classes, this will be rolled out in the National Capital District as well as schools in other provinces starting this year.”
Kombra said electronic learning would also be introduced so teachers didn’t have to be physically present to teach in the classroom.
“There must also be a cluster system in all schools to help deliver learning services.
“We have about 250 secondary schools and they will become the centre point of high, junior high, primary, and elementary schools.
“The centre will be the focus to deliver services like curriculum materials, in-service training before reaching out to those around it.”
Kombra said that they would change the way of service delivery through provinces, districts and individual schools and would use the cluster system.
The ministry also plans to build its own office this year while working on other key priorities of vision 2075.
