Refugee recovers after assault

A 42-year-old refugee in Manus was assaulted by a local man on Saturday evening in Lorengau.
Ali Razami, from Iran, was assaulted by a suspect at the upper ward 5 area at Lorengau at 8pm, according to police.
Provincial police commander David Yapu said the suspect used a piece of wood to attack the refugee.
He hit him above his right eye and caused injuries.
“The victim was rushed to the hospital and treated,” Yapu said.
“He was admitted at Lorengau General Hospital and will undergo X-ray.”
Yapu said the victim was in stable condition and able to talk.
“The refugee is married to a local woman and was residing at the area where the incident occurred,” he said
“Police are continuing with their investigations.
“The suspect will be picked up and dealt with by police for assaulting the refugee and causing injures to him.”
