POLITICAL parties that are not complying with the Organic Law on the Integrity of Political Parties and Candidates (Olippac) will be de-registered before the national election next year, Registrar of Political Parties Dr Alphonse Gelu says.
He said political parties had to comply with Olippac and uphold democracy to sustain the integrity and existence of the party in to the future.
“Political parties need to follow the laws and regulations of the Olippac to avoid de-registration and to uphold our democracy,” Gelu said.
He said this during the presentation of political party certificate to six newly-registered parties in Port Moresby yesterday.
They are:

  • Adore PNG Party;
  • PNG Liberal Party;
  • People’s Reform Party;
  • PNG Prosperity Party;
  • PNG Youth Empowerment Party; and,
  • People’s Empowerment Party.

Gelu said the issue of writs for the elections was only four months away and the political parties needed to start preparing through membership, establishing clear policy platforms, conducting awareness and fundraising, and also considering endorsing women candidates.
