Relatives burn down house, police on heightened alert

POLICE in Port Moresby are on heightened alert after angry relatives of a murder victim retaliated by burning down a house at Gerehu on Friday night.
Police National Capital District (NCD)/Central divisional command, in a statement, said the arson happened after a grade 11 student was stabbed to death in a brawl.
Police said the victim succumbed to his wound after being rushed to the Gerehu clinic.
The suspect in the killing, a man from Central, was arrested and detained by members of the police fox unit 202.
The suspect will be referred to the NCD homicide squad and police will also investigate the arson.
In a separate crime incident, members of Fox 203 acted on a tip off and recovered a Honda sedan, which was previously stolen and hidden in the bushes at Siraka.
The vehicle was towed towards Laloki along a dirt road and later taken into the city.
