Repentence Day is not for all Christians

THE National Repentance Day is not for all Christians. All Catholics in particular are excluded.

Theology preached by Catholic Church has its foundation in the gospel. Matthew 16: 18-19 gives scriptural basis for the Catholic Church with the Pontiff in Rome as Vicar of Christ.

Images the Church has used over many years include the crucifix, Virgin Mary statues, Angels’ images, beads for meditative prayers and so on.

Certainly, Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare did not sign a covenant with the God of Israel. As a practising Catholic Christian, Sir Michael would have contradicted his faith.

A key issue in the Repentance Manifesto is idolatry.

The ordinary meaning will include images but the real scriptural message is what this is all about.

It would be what the Repentance Zealots call “soft idolatry”.

God has no distinction of idolatry. This is where the Repentance Zealots were deceptive.

Christians generally and Catholics in particular must not be misled by Christian Zionists.

God bless Papua New Guinea.
