Replace OC with individual committees

Letters, Normal

I BELIEVE the time is right to dismantle the present structure of the Ombudsman Commission and replace it with individual committees in charge of certain sectors.
It has been observed that for much of its existence, the OC has focused almost entirely on the enforcement of the leadership code.
Parliamentary leaders are being targeted by the OC more than any other group.
As such, it has failed to pursue blatant breaches of trust and due process in the public service.
The OC also failed to pursue individuals or companies in private sector who were directly or indirectly in collusion with civil servants or politicians.
The OC failed dismally to ensure there is accountability and transparency in government agencies and hold provincial leaders and civil servants accountable over corrupt practices.
In terms of success rate, the OC failed most of the time to nail leaders or individuals.
The fact that it failed so many times show its efficiency and competency levels are well below acceptable standards.
As such, individual committees will allow the OC to focus on other sectors and give it more bite.
Corruption and all abuse of funds and grants can be monitored more closely.
