A CITY resident believes he may be a victim of the systematic land grabbing rampant in Lae, Morobe.

Western Highlander Max Dick, who has resided at Seventh Street in Top Town for the last six years, said he was surprised to read in a newspaper advertisement about the sale of his residential area on Section 97 Portion 27.

Dick is questioning how the lands department in Port Moresby, without any correspondence and verification with the provincial lands division in Lae, could allow that land to be sold to one his relatives who works as an accountant in Port Moresby.

Dick, a small businessman who had fenced the area and set up a trade store, could not believe it when his friends showed him last week the advertisement.

He has already made known his frustration and dissatisfaction with the provincial lands division but wants the lands department, in line with the promise by Minister Benny Allen, to investigate such questionable land deals.

He maintains that he still holds the title to the land and will now allow anyone else to lay claim to it.
