HIDES Gas Development Company (HGDC) and ExxonMobil Papua New Guinea handed over to the Komo local-level government (LLG) the recently-refurbished Komo Sports Field in Hides last week.
Komo LLG president and Hela deputy governor Charles Haluya said the field would be used not only for sporting events but other events such as cultural shows. “On behalf of the people of Komo, Hela and the Government, I thank ExxonMobil PNG Ltd and Hides Gas Development Company for delivering the refurbished field to the Komo LLG,” he said.
“The generosity by the two companies is appreciated by the Government and the people of Hela.
“We are grateful that the venue has been refurbished to national standards and we are proud that it will be the home ground for the Hela Wigmen.
“This venue will also be used for events such as the annual Hela Cultural Show which is held in October.”
HGDC community Affairs manager Allan Kayabe said the company was ready to partner the Government to develop Komo and Hela.
“HGDC’s corporate values are driven by the core principles of empowering people at the community level and we are proud that we are living up to them,” he said.
Kayabe said the field signifies good friendship and corporation with the firms for the good of the community.
