Respect awareness team: Police

MANUS police commander Chief Insp David Yapu wants people to respect and work with the Covid-19 awareness teams sent there to conduct awareness and provide information.
Insp Yapu’s call came after five drunken youths from Matawore ward attacked a Covid-19 LLG awareness team. “While the team was conducting the awareness, the five drunken youths came into the area and caused disturbances and started a fight in the area and also attempted to attack Government officers with the policeman who were conducting awareness,” Insp Yapu said. “The incident was reported and a team was dispatched to restore normalcy.
“We have arrested four of the youths already and still looking for one.”
Insp Yapu said that he would not tolerate such behaviour from anyone who did not have respect for Government officers and leaders in the community and will ensure that they face the full force of the law.
He also said he would be sending more men to accompany the awareness team to the LLGs to provide security for them and also take part in the awareness on state of emergency orders and general issues.
