Retiring Catholic archbishop farewelled by community

RETIRING Catholic Archbishop of Rabaul diocese Francisco Panfilo was farewell by the Sulka tribe of Ganai last Friday.
The reconciliation ceremony among the five clans under the Sulka tribe was to signify the friendship with Archbishop Panfilo and the Catholic mission’s returning of land to the people.
Archbishop Panifilo said the people of Sulka had the right to their land and hoped that this would see them use it wisely to benefit themselves.
Sulka chief Emmanuel Mondo acknowledged the work of the retiring archbishop who had served his people.
He said Archbishop Panfilo was a great man of God who was dedicated to the work of churches in Rabaul diocese and would be fondly remembered.
