IT is indeed unfair to those who are currently serving their full terms in prisons throughout the country while convicted felon Jimmy Maladina had his eight-year jail term suspended. Despite repaying the full amount of hard working public servants’ money (K2.65 million), Maladina’s jail suspended term should be reviewed. It is good to hear that the Public Prosecutor is appealing this suspended sentence in the Supreme Court. Our Judges should come down hard on those who steal millions of kina from the public purse without fear of being prosecuted. The reasons given for the suspended prison term doesn’t equate but that is now up to the Supreme Court to reconsider and decide.
