Revive our plantations

Letters

PLANTATIONS in Papua New Guinea country should be revived to contribute to our economy.
Revenue from coffee, tea, cocoa and oil palm plantations have proven to be beneficial.
Our economy in its past glory days was reliant on plantations.
It had paid handsomely to those who have been engaged as labourers when the kina value was higher during those times but they were scaled down and policies were changed to focus more on small-scale farming.
Reviving plantations will see an increase in employment.
To be accurate, not all Papua New Guineans have a fair share of lands, which they can tailor into for their livelihoods.
Even though they may wish to settle in their village, it’s disheartening to know that they don’t have customary land to settle.
Reviving plantations will provide an escape for those who struggle to settle in their villages among their own people.
