THE Professional Accelerate Institute’s school of nursing in Mt Hagen, Western Highlands, presented a new set of uniforms worth K5,000 to Riper Tigers earlier this month.
The Tigers are competing in the Ukuni Two Charles Lee Rugby League challenge.
Institute director Michael Wek Kerowa said the assistance was part of their awareness on healthy living among youths in sports.
He said the Tigers’ senior and junior teams reached the finals of the Baiyer leg.
Kerowa said the club had requested for uniforms and he was happy to help them because the assistance was part of the institute’s vision to provide a second chance in life.
He said most of the players were villagers who were rookies in the league.
Kerowa said the support would help youths expose their talents and become better citizens.
He said the institute’s vision was to ensure that such interventions provide a way forward for young people.
“A lot of young people now have a serious attitude problem in the country,” Kerowa said.
“They think they can do anything without respecting their communities and the institute believes that sports can help address the issue.
“We need to live with peace and respect for each other.”
He said the support would motivate the Tigers in the finals.
Kerowa thanked sponsor Charles Lee for investing in rugby league in the province.
