Rising expectation prompts Nasfund to enter internet deal

INNOVATIVE solutions are being developed to meet rising expectations of Nasfund members, especially those in the rural areas.
This was part of the reason for the launch of free internet access for Nasfund online members in partnership with Telikom PNG.
This would also be aligned with the ongoing rollout of backup links in Nasfund branches nationwide, also done in partnership with Telikom PNG.
The backup link will allow for a more-consistent service to members in outside centres, says Nasfund chief officer member services Charlie Gilichibi
“We again thank Telikom PNG because the back-up link that was developed is unique to Nasfund,” he said.
“The back-up link is built over Telikom’s 4G network.
“The branches that we have already rolled to are Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang and Vanimo.
“The network speeds are brilliant.
“Our IT staff are currently going to the rest of the branches and come end of June, we will have the back-up link to Telikom 4G fully rolled out to all the branches.
“What happens is we have a primary link that’s serving us.
“In the event that the primary link fails, then automatically the back-up link senses there is a failure.
“It kicks in without our staff even knowing and without members being affected.”
Gilichibi said a survey last year noted that members were pleased with Nasfund’s overall performance, but for service at branch level.
“The main thing this comes down to is about network connectivity to provide them service,” he said.
“We are addressing that issue.
“It also helps our staff because they are put under pressure when there are long queues and they tell members the link is down.
“They don’t want to be told link is down wait or come back tomorrow.
“The expectations from our members have increased and we are developing solutions to meet them.”
