Rival school bosses sidelined

EASTERN Highlands education adviser Thomas Jonduo has removed two people fighting for the principal’s job at Asaroka Lutheran Secondary School in Goroka, Eastern Highlands.
Martin Akiro and Aki Olisagave have been removed and Noelsar Kabakure has been appointed caretaker principal to get the school started.
Akiro and Olisagave were claiming to be the duly appointed principal for 2018 after the Evangelical Lutheran Church education agency made a recommendation to the Eastern Highlands education board to endorse them for the position.
That sparked a conflict and the new school year started in chaos.
“You are therefore kindly instructed to step aside to allow caretaker principal to get the school’s academic programme off the ground while waiting for the Lutheran Church education agency to recommend an acting principal in consultation with the provincial education board,” Jonduo told the two principals.
Evangelical Lutheran Church Papua New Guinea’s national education secretary Elisah Waka confirmed that he would lead a delegation to Goroka to address the issue.
Jonduo has instructed Kabakure to have confidence and restore normalcy and confidence back to the school.
Asaroka Secondary School is one of the oldest educational institutions, established in the ’60s by pioneer Lutheran missionary Rev Len Tscharke.
