Road problem

Letters

IT appears that National Capital District Commission has engaged Wasteco Management or its sub-sidiary company to carry out civil works.
The irony is that this particular company is just doing the front entrance of the road leading to the street, with the rest of the street in Dorido and Mamba missing out.
When approached as to why civil works for this road were not done for the whole street, they replied that they were instructed or paid to do the front entrance of the street only.
It only serves the first 10 houses at the front, five houses each to the right and left respectively.
We are all tax payers of this country and whatever service that is rendered by the Government must be seen to benefit everybody.
It must not be specifically to serve the interests of a few select.
It cannot be seen to discriminate. Can the city manager explain to the residents of Dorido and Mamba Street why this particular roadwork is done only to give service to a select few and not everyone who resides in the community?
Some of us senior public servants living in the community there pay more than K500 from our fortnightly salaries as tax.
To see such unfair and biased services being provided makes us frustrated.
Apart from paying our fortnightly taxes to the Government, we pay land rates and garbage charges annually to NCDC and annual land rental to Lands Department.
On top of all of these, we are charged additional 10 per cent GST on all goods we purchase from the shops.
