Road project

Letters

ON behalf of the people of Gumine, I take this opportunity to express my concern with the Department of Work for its decision to fund a new road project from Chuave to Karamui via Salt Nomane.
The current work on the Gumine-Karamui road must continue without any interference because it is a national Government-funded project that receives direct funding from the national Budget and so far the Government has already spent K30 million on it.
The people of Gumine have given up their land to make way for that road to connect the people of Karamui to the outside world.
The road reached the first village of Talpakul, in Karamui, last year and there are only 11 more kilometres left for it to reach the Whagi (Tua) River before connecting the rest of Karamui to the other side.
