WORKS Minister Michael Nali has assured Kairuku-Hiri MP Peter Isoaimo that roadwork in his electorate will be looked into once money is available for maintenance.
Isoaimo wanted an update of roadwork in his electorate, in particular the work on the Hiritano Highway Junction to Veifa School of Nursing, Koitaki to Doa, Napa Napa road in Hiri-West, Vanapa to Laloki, and Beireina turnoff to Malalaua.
Nali told Parliament that money continued to be an issue. “I do not have the cash to attend to every road, I’d love to fix it up but I don’t have the money to fix it,” he said.
However, he said roadwork continued to be a priority of the government.
“While I do not know about the Hiritano Highway Junction to Veifa works, I will find out and get back to you, for the Koitaki to Doa I would be able to answer that once I have found out about it as well.
“For the first phase of the Vanapa to Laloki, it has been implemented and Dekenai has done a good job.
“Second phase will include the road to Kerema as well.”
Nali said that would also include the road from Madang town to Bogia. “We are waiting for the outcome to commence the second phase of the Hiritano Highway.”
