THE Kikori development authority (DDA) received two trucks to be used as public motor vehicles (PMVs) to help the people of Ihu local level government.
Kikori MP Soroi Eoe said in Port Moresby on Friday that road works on Petoe to Ihu was in progress and once complete it would improve service delivery in the district.
He said part of the K80 million grant by the Chinese government in September would also be used to connect other roads in the district along the Purari River.
“We are hopeful that the portion of that money will be used to seal the Kerema-Ihu road, upgrade drainage systems and build a bridge,” Eoe said.
The trucks cost K324,000 each.
Eoe said there had not been any road access for the last 46 years in the Ihu LLG but with the construction of the Petoe to Ihu roadwould benefit the community.
