LAE’S roads system will continue to be upgraded, says local MP and Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso.
Rosso said industrial roads needed to be upgraded and concreted and so as roads in settlements and suburbs in the next five years.
He said priority would also be given to street lights, cleaning and beautification work and rebuilding educational institutions.
He said the district would look at creating employment opportunities through providing a conducive environment for investors to do business in the city.
Rosso said the law and order issues would be attended to, especially involving petty crimes which had become an issue.
“As soon as I return to Lae, my focus and priority is to rid the city of petty crimes, working in conjunction with police and all other relevant institutions,” he said.
“That will be my main focus, to eradicate petty crimes.
“Anyone harbouring petty criminals would be dealt with severely. The city deserves peace where people live in harmony.”
Rosso also thanked voters of Lae for having confidence in him by giving him a second term in office.
“I am very humbled and this shows that the people were happy and appreciative of the work that I had done and wanted me to continue,” he said. “I haven’t campaigned, but you voted.
“I promise that I will do my best – for Lae, Morobe and Papua New Guinea.”
