Royals draw with Hohola Flies

PORT Moresby Rugby League competition frontrunners Royals and Hohola Flies drew 4 all in round 13 at the National Football Stadium on Saturday.
Royals and the Flies offered little in attack but plenty in defence as the slippery pitch took its toll on both sides.
Flies veteran and five-eighth Cathy Neap’s attacking kick in the opening minutes was re-gathered by centre Esther Vaso, who crossed over to open the scoring at 4-0.
But that was all the side could offer as they defended for the best part of the first half.
Royals were rewarded with an unconverted try to winger Belinda Waula after some good backline movement to equalize 4-4.
Both sides looked nervous and their strike weapons did not click as they played under tremendous pressure.
Both sides missed the services of Papua New Guinea Orchids players Catherine Anjo (Flies) and Veronica Waula (Royals) who were in Sydney, Australia, for their clash with Fiji.
Royals relied on former Orchids centre Naomi Kaupa to lead their young side.
Neap and Mala Mark did the same for the Flies.
