THE ruling Pangu Pati will hold its convention in Port Moresby on Friday to organise itself for the 2022 general election, says party leader and Prime Minister James Marape.
“The first convention will occur this Friday and we will be getting in our party officials from around the country,” he said.
“The convention will see the party affirm its structure, constitution and policies.
“(We will look) back at what Pangu has been doing for the country in terms of leadership, its core policies, (and) basically taking stock of what has been achieved in (the past) three years.
“What are the key policies in our view of taking back PNG from the wrong hands and corruption and complacency.
“It will allow us to put back the country on the right road where we give economic independence to the country and our citizens.
The convention should have taken place in 2018 as prescribed by law.
“It was deferred because of the Covid-19, politics and the by-elections that took place.
“We are now ready to hold it in a Covid-19 sensitive manner.”
