Rural women still dying

Letters

LAST Friday in Mougulu, Western, a woman gave birth to twins, while on her way tracking the bush lands to find the nearest hospital.
She died after giving birth in the middle of the bush.
This is not the first time such has happened.
We have lost hundreds of mothers through childbirth in the rural areas of Papua New Guinea.
It’s 2020 and our mothers in the rural areas are still dying after giving birth because there is no hospital or aid post near by.
It is quite sad.
We always put our hands up to help others but we are forgeting to help our own.
I hope this go viral so our Government can do something for our people in the rural areas.
We talk about a modern Papua New Guinea but how can we achieve that when we don’t have a proper health care system that works for the people in the rural areas such as Mougulu?

  • This is very very sad indeed. There have been alot of reports of such cases in Western Province in the past and yet our government is not even looking into it. Are there any leaders of Western Province representing the people of Mougulu in the Parliament? We can not afford to lose such an innocent life in the hands of a negligent government. slash all the politicians pay and start building a Health centre or hospital for the people of Mougulu. We should be genuine enough and feel for our poor people who should have all the privileges like other citizens of this country.

  • People are very important, this country is made up of people and if no people living in the PNG name will never exist. People choose leaders to represent and talk on behalf of them so that they can provide proper health services and infrastructure development. If leaders are choose by people why can’t they provide services to those who are in need. Leader be careful!..
