FORMER Mr South Pacific and Mr PNG Donald Kaiwi is returning to competitive body building after a five year sabbatical.

He will compete at the Asia Pacific International titles sanctioned by the Australian National Bodybuilding at the Gold Coast on June 9.

This is a world class event which Kaiwi and current Mr South Pacific/ PNG Jack Viyufa will compete in, with Viyufa making his debut at an ANB-sanctioned event.

Kaiwi will compete in the over 90kg heavy weight division and Viyufa in the 70kg against some of the best bodybuilders from Australia and Asia.

Both men are training at the Life Gym at Holiday Inn in Port Moresby.

PNG Body Building Federation president Cosmas Hannett said Kaiwi and Viyufa were recognised in the South Pacific and were expected to do well at the Gold Coast event.

Hannett said there were gold medal hopefuls for PNG leading to the 2015 Pacific Games here than the other body builders.

Meanwhile, Hannett strongly appealed to associations to pay their K100 affiliation and K20 registration (per athlete) fees prior to participation in the national bodybuilding championships on June 8 in Kokopo.

He said 11 associations were confirmed to attend in the men’s and women’s 65- 90 kg divisions.

The president said associations should consult and liaise with their respective regional vice-presidents Michael Siwi (Southern), Tim Tally (Momase), Alphonse Benny (Highlands) and Michael Matsi (New Guinea Islands).

Hannett said a training squad for the 2015 Pacific Games would be announced after the championships.
