TWENTY-four-year-old Lae City Dwellers midfielder Jacob Sabua is confident of giving his best against hosts Nakultan FC in their Group A fixture of the OFC Champions League today.
The Morobean said after two wins over Tupapa of Cook Islands and Ba FC of Fiji, the camp was bursting with confidence as they prepare for today’s game.
“The boys are really confident and that is important for our preparations,” the PNG international said.
“Nakultan FC will have a lot of home fans and they have top players from Vanuatu so I think it’s going to be a very tough game for us.
“I am happy to be part of the Lae City Dwellers side and to qualify for the quarter finals is something special to me.
“I am excited to play because I feel that I have done something good in soccer in my career and it’s history-making for the club.
“Last year I played with Madang FC in the OFC Champions League but this year it’s an honour to play for the Lae City Dwellers and come this far.
“I have learnt a lot going up against very experienced players in the Oceania region and it has taught me to improve my own game.
“In camp we are also very happy to have two Solomon Islanders, Tutizama Tanito and Andrew Rarangia; they have helped us a lot. Tutizama scored the goal that won us the game against Ba FC.
“Playing alongside captain Raymond Gunemba and Nigel Dabinyaba is also great. Both of them are our senior players and they lead well both on and off the field.”
