THERE is enough money allocated to the districts and the public service machinery must be working to ensure it is used well, a senior civil servant says.

“This is our biggest challenge,” Paul Sai’i, the secretary to the Department of Implementation and Rural Development said.

“We must help our farmers. Sacrifice. Don’t wait for allowances,” he said.

“Don’t wait for trucks. Get down there and help our farmers.”

He said food security was in the hands of farmers.

During the World Food Day in Central, Sai’i urged public servants to work because of their love to serve the people and not just to receive allowances.

“We must get the public service machinery working,” he said.

“At the same time villagers must come forward.”
