MOROBE Governor Ginson Saonu has given public servants the “10 commandments” they should follow to improve their performance.
He said work performances of public servants had hindered service delivery to people in rural areas.
The rules will also apply to officers serving in the nine districts and 33 local level governments in the province.
“The 10 commandments is to ensure public servants serve their public office diligently and perform State obligations as expected by the taxpayers and rural majority,” Saonu said.
Saonu announced the new rules on July 23 to coincide with Remembrance Day.
“We must set in place some value systems and encourage apt moral and ethical values in work place performances as the agents of change.”
The 10 rules are a commitment to State duties, complying with regulations in provincial and national government duties, honesty in the performance of their duties, improved workplace performance, transparency in the workplace, creativity in the workplace, quality output with achieved results in their respective divisions, raising high standards through practising best workplace approaches, encouraging moral and ethical values in workplaces, confidence in oneself to perform government obligations.
“Above all, uphold and encourage the 10 rules in workplaces to achieve change in our province and country,” he said.
