School awards international certificates

Education

FOUR International Baccalaureate (IB) students graduated among 136 grade 12 students from Port Moresby International School (POMIS) last week.
The graduation was held at the Apec Haus at Ela Beach and parents and sponsors attended the evening event.
Thierry Lepani, Daniel Joseph, Chantel Cajetan and Natalie Kuk are four International Baccalaureate (IB) students who also studied the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) year 11 and 12 syllabus. Three of them will also receive the PNG Upper Secondary School Certificate as they are nationals.
Deputy principal (academic) Ronan Moore said the current IB students had just finished an exhausting round of examinations to decide their final grades and depending on these grades they would receive in January, they could apply to universities around the world to further their education.
Moore said among the 4,000 schools worldwide that offered IB, POMIS is the 257th school and the only authorised school in PNG that offered the programme.
