School chairman kept in the dark

SOUTHERN Highlands’ Kaupena High School board chairman James Temane says he has been kept in the dark by the school administration.
“I have been left out of school meetings. I am concerned about the reasons for this,” he said.
The government-run school enrols Grades 9 and 10 students in Imbonggu and surrounding areas.
Last year, the provincial education adviser announced in a circular the new school board members with Temane as chairman.
“However, we have not been given the opportunity to contribute to the running of school,” Temane told The National in Port Moresby.
“And the school has been running for years without producing financial reports,” he added.
Temane has written a letter informing the authorities about the matter regarding the appointment of the board, with a copy forwarded to Imbonggu district education adviser.
Now Temane is also calling on the Education Department to investigate the operations of the school’s administration for not only the last few years but for the past 10 years.
“How can a school run without a school board and no financial reports?” he asked.
