KOKOPO Primary School, one of the biggest primary schools in East New Britain (ENB), is expecting to enrol 1,470 students this year, an official says.
Deputy head teacher Joseph Salot, while giving a rundown of 2020 enrolments yesterday, said the school was conducting student registrations and orientation this week and classes would start next Monday.
Salot said with the increased number of enrolees from all over the district, as well as other parts of the province, class sizes would be between 40 and 46 students, which was an increase from last year.
“Our classes will now be having 40 to 46 students per class starting from grade three up to grade eight while we will also be having extra class each for our grade sevens and eights to be increased to six classes per grade,” he explained.
Salot said grade three to five will have five classes each for this year.
“Our teachers will be working throughout this week to get all of our registrations done before we start classes next Monday.”
Salot said the school had 38 teachers and noted that the approved project fees for this year was K270 per child.
He urged parents to pay their children’s project fees to the school’s account – Name: Kokopo Primary School; Account No: 1001232576; BSP Kokopo branch.
