A SCHOOL in Port Moresby hosted a thanksgiving assembly on Friday to express their gratitude to parents and staff, as well as the Lord, for ensuring their safety and the effective running of the school during the state of emergency (SOE) lockdown.
The ceremony was a token of appreciation by the Gerehu’s Kopkop College school management of towards those involved in handling the Covid-19 lockdown and suspension of classes.
When the SOE was declared in April, the teachers and school’s IT team quickly converted their lesson plans onto the Kopkop College Moodle Online learning platform to assist students with their lessons. The online learning platform was to ensure the continuity of assessments and to provide a safer learning platform for the students.
It was the parents’ responsibility to return hard copies of worksheets, homework and assignments to the school.
School prefect Shane Lavai said the pandemic had caused disruption to schools and businesses in PNG, but also around the world, they needed to be thankful for the Lord’s blessings and protection.
Lavai also thanked parents, guardians and the staff for their effort in ensuring the period was managed well and students learning was not greatly affected.
