School introducing new subject to curriculum

Education

STUDENTS at Bavaroko Primary School will have a new subject called Citizenship Christian Values (CCV) added to their curriculum next year, head teacher Catharine Moresi says.
More than 2000 students will be taught the new subject by their own teachers and not religious education pastors, Moresi said.
“Students lack many good principles today at home and school. Respect, forgiveness, humbleness and patience will help them grow with good principals,” she said.
“Teaching those will help the discipline problems that some students have.”
Pastor Jackson Turi led the mini crusade during the closing of term one to help deal with issues of social problems encountered by the students.
He said the main message of the crusade was teaching the word of God to the students to help them change their lives.
Attitude problem is something parents, teachers and authorities are concerned with, he said.
Moresi said it was their first crusade. Previously sports and other activities were held to close the term and many students ended up drinking and engaging in illegal activities.
