A SCHOOL building with an estimated value of K3 million went up in flames destroying school records, certificates and a science laboratory yesterday.
Firemen managed to save some properties at the Wardstrip Primary School in Port Moresby.
“We have lost all school documents and students’ assessments records,” head teacher Sussie Ure said.
Chief fire officer Bill Roo, when contacted last night, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.
How the fire started is still being investigated although teachers had seen some students burning rubbish near the building.
The building had six rooms used as the administration office, science laboratory, library, two grade eight classrooms, a computer lab and a printing office.
The administration office and science laboratory were completely destroyed.
Firefighters managed to save the other rooms.
The construction of the building was funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency in 2010.
