School should be for all, not just Catholics

Letters

ALL stakeholders agreed that the new Sumgilbar North Coast High School in Madang will be registered as a government school or government agency-run school.
But a few locals where the school is located who are Catholics are taking the issue to the Catholic bishop of Madang diocese to register it as a Catholic agency run school.
As we all know well that there are number of other denominations in Sumgilbar LLG and Madang province. We also experienced the church run schools who have their own policies and restrict children from other denominations.
This is a very serious issue yet to be resolved and the Madang education office must do something urgently.
With these experiences we do not want such thing to happen to this new high school.
In a forum last February, all stakeholders resolved that the school will a registered as a government agency school.
Whose interest are these locals serving?
We will challenge this decision and even dispute the matter.
As true Christians and partners, we must all work together in true spirit of unity for the prosperity of all.
Since we all have worked very hard and waited for many years for this new school, we must make it happen and to serve all children and not just a bunch of only Catholic students.
