A PRIMARY school in Gazelle district will increase its enrolment next year with the introduction of an upper primary grade.

District education coordinator Panuel Luana said the provincial education board had agreed to introduce Grade 7 next year at the Vunga Primary School in the Inland Baining local level government.

He said with the additional class, the school administration and parents must be prepared to take on challenges created by the increase.

Luana said the challenges included teacher recruitment and teachers’ houses.

There is the need for students to be retained during their elementary schooling to feed Grade 3 at the primary school, he said.

There are currently four classes for Grades 3 to 6. Luana wanted parents to ensure students come to school and not burdened at home with house chores.

Luana said there was funding endorsed by the Gazelle Joint District Planning and Budget Priorities Committee for infrastructure development in schools.

He said a conducive learning environment and infrastructure would require the commitment of students and parents to promote quality education.
