THE Department of Education has delivered two dinghies to the Ambunti-Dreikikir and Angoram districts of East Sepik to help education services there.
National standards and guidance asset manager Japheth Nanege and Momase regional director Joseph Moide presented the two 23-foot dinghies and 40hp outboard engines to respective standards officers for the districts at Kreer Primary School in Wewak yesterday.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nanege said the standards and guidance division of the department had delivered 16 10-seater LandCruisers and 10 outboard motors nationwide under the inspectors’ housing and transport programme.
He said the division had received K5 million from the national government for the programme this year and K2 million each had been spent on building houses and buying boats and vehicles for standards officers while K1 million was for administration purposes.
Nanege said Morobe, Madang and West Sepik had received a 10-seater LandCruiser each earlier this year while yesterday’s presentation to East Sepik marked the last for the  Momase region.
Moide thanked taxpayers whose money had now been returned to boost the delivery of education services in the province.
He said the boats would help the quality of education in schools in the two districts.
Moide stressed the significance of the school learning improvement plan (SLIP) and encouraged all schools in the province to come up with their SLIP by next year.
