Schools in Aust donate furniture

Education

ANGLICAN schools in Australia’s New South Wales (NSW) donated furniture to schools in Morobe with help from Swire Shipping.
The furniture were presented to Soroptomist International Lae branch president Nellie McLay and Morobe education board chairman Bob Aaron on March 1.
NSW Anglican’s Ross Whelan, in a zoom conference, said the schools in Sydney were eager to support and he would be attending another meeting on Friday (March 4) to look at schools they wish to support.
“The Swire Shipping is a very good supporter of the Papua New Guinea community,” he said.
“Soroptomist is reporting that they are inspiring women in their role for education.”
Swire Shipping’s Tom Spearman said education was really important for socio-economic progress in any country.
McLay said: “We decided that it is important that we look at schools not only within Lae but outside of the city boundaries.
“Elementary schools in Huon, Yalu and Munum and Munum Primary School Soroptomist had helped us before, so we thought it is proper that we give them something also.”
