THE National Capital District Schools Rugby League (NCDSRL) is aiming for a bigger participation this year as the league prepares to hold its first information session on Friday.
League president Arnold Gende told The National that the purpose of the session was to see the number of schools in Port Moresby that were participating while informing them on the restructure by the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football league (PNGRFL).
“We invite sports teachers in Port Moresby because we’d like their schools to be included in our competition and programmes this year,” he said.
“The meeting will have special guests from the PNGRFL like chief executive Stanley Hondina who will be breaking down the restructured policies on how we can benefit from the schools level.
“Arnold Krewanty and Toksy Nema will be present to add on how each schools can organise and better prepare themselves inside the rules of the game and ‘new normal’.
“We want to have a competition that will go by the electorates in the city, so the details of the competition and programmes will be discussed during the session.”
Gende said the league had recently recruited the services of PNG Kumul Stargroth Amean to assist in the schools programme as a technical officer.
“It’s a big thing to have Stargroth because we know the impact he will have on the students and their ambitions in rugby league,” he said.
The information session will be hosted at Koki Training Centre at 2pm on Friday.
