SIASSI Lutheran High School in Morobe has a new governing council that is looking at making an impact, says chairman Roland Martin.
He said the presentation of K250,000 towards maintenance of the school was the first such assistance over the past four decades.
“We have a new science lab that was funded by the Government,” Martin said. “With this financial assistance, we will make sure the money is used for its intended purpose.”
He said the total cost of maintenance work on rundown facilities would be provided and materials would be purchased.
He said earlier that Tourism Promotion Authority chairman and Nawaeb MP Kennedy Wenge gave K10,000 towards project that will revive tourism activities on the island.
That money would be used to build a new teacher’s house.
Meanwhile, Tewai-Siassi MP Dr Kobby Bomario said Prime Minister Peter O’Neill’s commitment during the Lutheran women’s conference in October for the Siassi Ring Road had materialised.
“The prime minister has given 1 million for the ring road,” he said. “We are looking at engaging a local contractor to build the roads.”
