MANY schools in New Ireland may lose out on tuition fee-free subsidies in the second half of the year because they have not completed and filed their census forms.
This was a requirement they were supposed to have met in March but most have failed to do so.
Provincial standards officer for basic education, George Choi said that many schools in rural areas and only a few in urban centres were yet to submit their census forms to the division of education in Kavieng and the Department of Education headquarters in Port Moresby.
Choi said school census forms were important documents that contained information vital for planning purposes to suit the needs of schools.
He said crucial to the completion of the census forms was information on the number of students attending the schools in the first half of the year as these enrolment figures would determine how much TFF subsidies the schools would get in the second half of the year.
Choi was not able to disclose the number of schools yet to submit census forms.
