Schools urged to perform, avoid excuses

HIGH and secondary schools in Morobe have been urged to perform well and not give excuses this year.
Morobe school principals and head teachers’ chairman Christopher Raymond told principals and head teachers of the various high and secondary schools to upgrade their academic performance.
Raymond said this after noting that many remote schools performed below 50 per cent and rated the performance as “very poor”.
He told them that about 60 per cent of the students were not eligible to secure a space in upper secondary.
“Schools in Finschhafen, Kabwum and Tewae-Siassi have not performed well and should pull up their socks this year,” he said.
“And those schools that have performed well should maintain their positions or perform a little higher.”
Raymond requested the teachers to perform to their best despite law and order issues, road constraints and other problems.
“Many students did not make it through to Grade 11 this year,” he said.
“Always think outside the box, look for other options to address issues and don’t give excuses.
“It is your responsibility to change the young generations.
“Teach on philosophy of care and not on knowledge alone.”
