Schram given two weeks to prepare case for review

TERMINATED University of Technology Vice-Chancellor Dr Albert Schram has been allowed two weeks to prepare his case for a hearing of his application for leave for judicial review.
Schram was terminated by the university council on Feb 15 after 21 allegations were levelled against him.
The council resolved to uphold most of the allegations and Schram was given seven days to vacate his home.
He engaged Emmanuel Lawyers who has since obtained a stay order to stop Unitech taking further action against him.
As the State was not yet served with court documents, the court adjourned the matter for inter parte hearing on Schram’s application for judicial review on Tuesday.
Emmanuel Isaac, the principal of Emmanuel Lawyers, said that he made an application on Tuesday for hearing of the application in about two weeks.
He said this was to give him time to seek instructions from his client on the affidavits that were filed and served on him by Unitech lawyers.
He, however, said that the State objected to the application for adjournment, but the court ruled in favour of Schram that more time should be given to his lawyers to seek instructions on the affidavits filed.
The matter was adjourned to March 20.
