THE Madina girls’ secondary school administration needs to be investigated for the misuse of the tuition-free fee (TFF) funds.

The school charged a K200 project fee per student and K100 for uniforms for this school year.

With about 500 students, this would amount to K150,000. With the first component of the TFF of K250,000, this comes up to K400,000.

Now, halfway in the second term, the school has run out of money even though it gets its two-week student ration from the provincial government every two weeks.

Students are asked to contribute money for the SRC, dormitory maintenance and even buy their own learning materials for subjects like Home Economics.

The investigation officer is incapable of investigating as he receives financial assistance from schools for his visits despite funding from the department.

The Education Department really needs to investigate if there is misappropriation going on in schools because the provincial education division does not seem capable of doing it.
