ABOUT 300 world preachers are expected to be in the country next month to share God’s word and unite everyone through a nationwide convention.
This was made known during the PNG for Christ evangelistic campaign aimed at uniting everyone despite their denominations that had been launched by the Sepik Mission in Wewak recently.
The Sepik Mission is the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) headquarter for the East and West Sepik provinces.
Sepik Mission president Pastor Henry Monape said further announcements on the event would be made known in due course.
The convention is expected to run from April 26 to May 11.
Monape noted that the Sepik Mission alone has more than 30,000 members.
District stations like Ambunti, Bewani, May River and Yangoru are expected to also facilitate the convention apart from the four main townships; Aitape, Maprik, Vanimo and Wewak.
“The highlight of the programme is that at least 300 world preachers who will be flown into the country to share God’s word with people all over Papua New Guinea at selected sites in the country which include nine stations and towns in East and West Sepik provinces,” Monape said.
East Sepik government representative and deputy administrator for social services sector, Alphonse Kami thanked the Sepik Mission for its perseverance and dedication to changing lives and minds of the younger generation.
It was announced that the programme would run simultaneously throughout the country on set dates given.
Pastor Gary Webster, director of the Institute of Public Evangelism at the South Pacific Division, said the preachers will include General Conference president Pastor Ted Wilson.
“They will be coming from around the world and from throughout the South Pacific Division to help the Church in PNG share the good news of Jesus and his soon return,” he said.
