The Apec Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Secretariat held an information night for micro small to medium-sized enterprises on Wednesday.
Apec PNG 2018 coordination authority director general Sir Charles Lepani told attendees that efforts were taken to ensure most benefit for micro small to medium-sized enterprise through logistics.
“For us in the coordination authority, we focus on delivering Apec through logistics” he said.
“One of the key things that we have been very keen to promote within the logistics side is setting up, within venues, opportunities for micro small to medium enterprises to showcase products.
“There are also the regional visits.”
Sir Charles said policy outcomes from Apec needed to have a sustainable legacy for micro small to medium-sized enterprises as well other important areas of the economy.
“In the end, when Apec finishes by November after the leaders meet, there will be questions on what was achieved in hosting basically the largest event the country has ever hosted,” he said.
“That’s the question we need to answer now going forward and not only policy matters.
“The following year will Chile’s turn, but what will be the legacy from this that will be here sustainably for Papua New Guinea.
“We have to leave something behind from this.”
