Senior officers sign agreement

SENIOR officers of the Works Department have signed a leadership commitment agreement to deliver activities listed in its road network strategy for 2018-37.
This was done at the end of a two-day retreat last week in Port Moresby.
Works secretary David Wereh said the agreement was signed after consultations among senior officers on what should be done to provide better road infrastructure.
“It’s important because we have this big plan to roll out more than 20,000 kilometers of roads in the country,” he told The National.
“The amount and level of resources and commitment needed is so big.
“So we have brought in all our provincial, field and headquarters staff to talk about issues and challenges that need to be corrected and improved.
“This is to ensure that we have an efficient flow of information and flow of work we want to do on the main highways.”
Wereh said those holding key positions in the department had made the commitment.
“They will be honest and faithful and give their best to put the country first and move the road plans forward in whatever capacity they have. That is something positive and it’s all about people.”
