THE Southern Highlands has lost a well-known senior public servant, Timon Ombiolu.
Ombiolu, a pioneer Southern Highlands public servant and adviser of districts and local level government affairs, passed away at Port Moresby General Hospital last Monday after being ill for some time, Governor William Powi said.
Powi said death of Ombiolu was a great loss to the provincial administration and to the people of Southern Highlands.
As a former administrator, Powi witnessed Ombiolu’s work and said he was a great mentor.
“He was a Southern Highlands son, a pillar of strength and an inspiration to all and his death leaves a gap in the public service machinery in the province.”
Powi offered condolences to Ombiolu’s family on behalf of his own family, the provincial government and the people of Southern Highlands.
Ombiolu will be laid to rest in his home village, Bui Yebi.
