THE Huon Gulf Service Station at Snack bar in Lae will reopen today under the banner of Islands Petroleum Limited.
The fuel station which is part of the Chemcare group of companies was previously retailing for Puma Energy.
The National visited the site yesterday as workmen were removing the old Puma Energy fuel Tank and changing the signage to Islands Petroleum.
Islands Petroleum is the exclusive distributor of Mobil products, an affiliate of ExxonMobil PNG.
A staff confirmed they will continue to serve petrol, diesel and zoom with no changes to its prices, as set by the Independent Independent Consumer and Competition Commission.
Chemcare chief executive officer Daniel King in a statement said this shift is the result of a deal made about six months ago.
Without revealing too much, the statement noted the group board’s view of this being in the best interests of the Chemcare Group to pursue a long term fuel supply deal with Islands Petroleum.
King noted this was the first step in some major changes coming for the location at Snack Bar and the Morobe capital.
“We are aiming to reopen the Andersons Express (Fredis) Supermarket in November this year,” he said.
“A larger floor space and the addition of 30 carpark spaces will allow customers to park and shop hassle free.”
“In addition to grocery shopping, there will be a Pharmacy, Bottle Shop and healthy food options on the run.”
